A Mini New Year’s Retreat

Welcome Body and Soul to the turn of the Year!

Take a deep breath and let it out with a sigh….
Give your face a little massage.
Massage your scalp.
Shake out one arm and then the other.
Shake out your legs.
Shake out whatever you are sitting on.
Reach up to the ceiling
and out to the sides.
Wrap your arms around your trunk.
Give yourself a hug.
Roll down, relaxing your arms.
Nod your head yes.
Roll up and repeat the sequence.

Let  your shoulders dance for a few seconds.
Twist around your spine to both sides.
Open your heart and spirit to the front.
Pull back into your back and spine.
Let your hips circle.
Massage your feet in the floor.

Having warmed up your body perhaps you feel more more present to All of you!

A Dance on Behalf of 2010
Do a dance on behalf of 2010, or write or rest
listening to piano and violin play “Yesterday”

In a moment of silence, savor the good you received this year. Bow to experiences and events that challenged you. Honor them like you would teachers.

Body Wisdom: What do I want?
Things change. Count on it. In the new year what would you like more of? What would you like to make? What does your body want? What small or big things bring you grace, fun, joy? Invite your bodyspirit to communicate.
Release your worry by using your easy focus, tossing preconceived notions up in the air with a Wheeee.
Imagine your 2011 with a meditative dance of one hand, (or your whole being if you want.) to Imagine

Write down thoughts, impressions, insights. Share them in the comment box and we’ll dance on behalf of them at InterPlayce, the first Friday Dance on Behalf Of. (DOBO).

We raise a hand connecting to InterPlaying friends in Africa, Australia, Brazil, Germany, India, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.S.and the UK and more. Dedicated to mystery, joy, life, art thank you Connie “Pwll” Tyler for composing this chant!

Hand to hand
Heart to heart
Mystery, joy, life, art!

Hand To Hand Chant

  1. Pwll says:

Music by me, but the words are Cynthia’s! In the new year I want more inspiration to write music and the courage to send it out into the world.

  2. cynthia Greenfield says:

I want to feel free and connected and share that with others.

I want to dance and laugh and share.

I want to know that I matter and so do you.

  3. Cynthia says:

Thanks to Elizabeth Mendana Shaw for putting up this blog. She’ll be doing this through all of January from Vashon Island. I am in awe of how close I am to people who live far away. Virtual/Dream space is as real as the trance spaces of ancient villagers whose vision quests helped them travel great distances without leaving the campfire.

  4. Janine says:

Thankyou SO much for encouraging me to practice Spanish in such an inspirational way!

    Gina says:

I’m imagining a year of connection and change as I move from Southern California to the Seattle area this summer! Building bridges that lead back and forth from both worlds. Supporting my two graduating
teenagers flying away to new lives. Living out my life in public spaces and private ones, letting each one inform and dance for one another.

  6. Right Relationship with my computer. Using Virtual Fridays on Monday mornings, ah ha!! All year, I haven’t done a single Virtual Friday on Friday, then, not at all. Being at InterPlayce over the weekend of New Year has reconnected me, thank you players, Penny, Gretchen and Cynthia.

Please DOBO ‘BC’s right relationship with her computer.’

After dancing to “Yesterday” and “Imagine” I now go to be with my Lincoln Hills meditation group.
