Dios de los Muertos

October 29, 2010
Dios de los Muertos

from a church in Mumbai

Take a deep breath and let it out with a sigh….

Light a candle for InterPlay and Dios de los Muertos. Add a peaceful light to the world!

It is a time to welcome life and death and honor the living and the dead.

Practice
Dance on Behalf of the ancestors of a person or a group that you care for, a group that you want to honor. This is peacemaking in a unfathomable way.

Or, just get these bones to dance—and remember, stillness is our friend.

Wheeeeee. Let’s Train!

(Thank you Tony Hole)

Body Wisdom:

Joy is a constant underground, embodied river. But sometimes we forget. Celebration, community, music, dance, making something, another person, a good game, a divine moment, a win can tap it. Still, we get rusty. Joy is a body thing, a gift of being human. Why wait to unleash it? Even those who grieve need it.

Train Your Joy Body

Behold the beauty around you. It beholds you.

Let the Reassurance of Westcott and Rodway, lead you into

silence or

the dance of one hand or your whole being or

humming or toning or

poetry.

If that didn’t do it try…

(Sorry about that evil twin bit at the end)

Bring a hand up in connection to those all around:  friends, playmates, challenging partners.

Move a hand to this chant from Mary Grigolia, UU minister, InterPlay friend.

Love opens up our bodies

and Love opens our spirits

and love opens our hearts

We’re seeds of love, we’re seeds of love.

Celebrate the love the births the seed

Comfort one another when we grief

Greet each day together with the need to

share this love, to share this love.

Take a deep breath and let it out with a sigh.

THANK GOD ITS FRIDAYS!

Sometimes we fall down go boom
Sometimes we’re hit by fear and gloom,
How to deal, when panic strikes?

Why not sing Dood dadda doom doom? like Gir

The Dalai Lama says. “In Tibetan we say, ‘if the rope breaks nine times, we must splice it together a tenth time.’ ”

InterPlay’s creative practices good during freak out…..
1) Exform (in good way) SHAKE!!!!! ITTTTTT!!!!!!!  OUT!!!!!!  Get up and dance!

2) Attach to something good. Bring your hands together: Notice your fingers pointing up.

The Dalai Lama, like other great holy figures, a great failure or triumphant success, says “Even if ultimately we do fail, at least we will have no feelings of regret. And when we combine this insight with a clear appreciation of our potential to benefit others, we can begin to restore our hope and confidence.”

3) So Dance and sing on Behalf of the World

Get your Joy Going. Joy is not the opposite of rage or grief. It is the fuel of hope.

Raise a hand in blessing to all who are going boom and gettin UP! We are a little crazy, But we are many… (206,898 connections since last year) Check out the Million Connections Campaign. Contribute your connections and support.

REMEMBER: AGGRESSION COMES FROM LACK OF CONNECTION.

Take a deep breath and let it out with a sigh.

Gimping to Glory!

*Raise a hand in blessing

Take a deep breath and let it out with a sigh…

Are you in your body?

Shake out one hand, shake out another.

Shake out whatever you’re sitting on.

No hand, foot, legs, heart?

Then shake what you can and breathe…

inhaling and exhaling is our common dance.

You can dance whatever you have not just your small b body, but with the BODYSPIRITBREATH that lives for glory!

Witness the Gimp Project!
http://www.thegimpproject.com/gimp/

Body Wisdom:

Everyone is a gimp. We lose “it” –our mind, spirit, balance, job, relationship, home. We fall off the curb of life. “Becoming a gimp is the easiest way to join a minority” says one “gimper.”

In InterPlay, where possible, we learn that we can “get on (with truth), get off (don’t get stuck in any given spot), and get over it. (move on).”  This is the best way to get ready for whatever is next. We call it improvising.

Is there some part of you that makes you a gimp? Could that Dance? Sing? Tell? Be in Contact? Or just be?

Imagine that limit in one hand.

Bring your other hand in contact with it.

Two hands together, create a whole dance of glory, to bless,  and even “play” with it all.

Raise a hand in blessing to many others InterPlaying with our beautiful world.

Take a deep breath and let it out with a sigh.

Lets hear it for Men from the Second Dance Company from Montreal:
who dance with Brains. Hands. Velcro!

Practice:
Keep Your Eye on Hand Dances around you today.
Steal some ideas! Like from this guy with 20 hand dance techniques.

Body Wisdom
Hands are mighty! On the great tree of life, they’re leaves for the healing of nations.
Hands hold, calm, bless, caress, make, bake, paint, type, express, shake, heal, pray, create.
Around the world hands tell it like it is.
Today InterPlayers lift hand and heart on behalf of needs and concerns. Maybe it will be sensual, spirited, or wild.
Maybe the dance will be for you!
Lift a hand in any direction and dance your connection to Curran Reichert’s improvisation “Body Prayer”

Unity Prayer (with gratitude to the 12 step community)

I put my hand in yours
and together we can do
what we could never do alone.

No longer is there a sense of hopelessness.

No longer must we each
depend upon our own unsteady will power.

We are all together now
reaching out our hands
for a power and strength, greater than ours.

And, as we join hands
we find love and understanding
beyond our wildest dreams.

Take a deep breath and let it out with a sigh.
